Pierced Ears!!!

Kylie has been noticing for a while that all of her little friends have their ears pierced. She starting asking me about a month ago if she could have earrings too, like all her friends at church. I explained to her how she would get them, and term "little pinch" turned her off to the idea very quickly. So I dropped it and didn't try to push the issue. Then, Tuesday we were at Claires with a friend and her two girls,(which had their ears pierced too), and she asked again. So I explained it to her all over again and instead of saying the word "pinch", I demonstrated what they would do. This time she said, "OK!" :) There was only one lady working at the time and I wanted them both done at the same time, so she said come back after 4 any day and there is always 2 people. So we decided to do it Thursday and made it a big deal for Kylie. She was so excited all day. We acted the actual piercing out all day. I thought it would help her. So I "pierced" her ears and she "pierced" mine all day! It was fun. When daddy got home, we loaded up and headed to Claires. But when we got there, there had been a shift mishap and there was only one girl there. I was so upset. Kylie was didn't understand why we had talked about it all day and now she couldn't get them! I was so afraid that if they just did one at a time, she would only have one ear pierced at the end of the day! lol! So aaron volunteered to do one. WHAT?! I was so shocked!....and nervous. So we did all the paperwork and on the count of 3!.......WAHLAH! :) She had the cutest pink daisy earrings. She cringed and cried for a total of 5 seconds, then got angry because the lady was cleaning them, but when she got out of the chair, she went straight to a mirror and just stared at herself. The rest of the night, she walked around flipping her hair back and being so proud of herself. It was definitely a special moment for her and I was so happy that Aaron and I were there for it and got to be apart of her first "big girl" experience. So now, my baby has her ears pierced like a big girl and is growing up way too fast. I put some pictures of her before and after she got them done.

Was searching for a GF's blog with similar last name and came across yours. Was reading about your older daughter's experience getting her ears pierced after peer pressure from friends.

Our ODD was like yours at 3 yrs old and wanted her ears pierced too. She did fine, but afterwards, wanted to know why her baby sister (6 months) didn't have pierced ears like she did? I swore that there would be no rush to have Missy's ears done because I was not in any hurry to repeat that experience of her sister. In addition, I had always bad mouthed mothers who would have their infants ears pierced.

I asked our ped and she encouraged me to go ahead have Missy's baby sister's ears pierced. Was a little surprised at her response, but she assured me that it was the best time because mommy was caring for her little ears and wouldn't get infected like the older girls who wanted them, but failed to care for them properly.

Our ped started explaining that it would be really easy to do it now while she is so young and didn't have control of her hands. That way she wouldn't touch or pull on them. Since they would always be there-she wouldn't be too curious about them- it would just be apart of her.

I don't know if you thought of having your youngest dd's ears pierced now or not. However, if the thought has crossed your mind, they your mommy intuition is telling earlier is best and I would go ahead now. Surprisingly, I found it no problem go care for both girl's newly pierced ears. Our ped gave me some suggestions for moms having their infants ears pierced.

If you would like them, write me an e-mail.
